Red face Low fuel light ain't right

I know I shouldn't depend on the low fuel light to remind me to fuel up, But I have. Now, I have a problem. The low fuel light flashes at me when I have a full tank. I don't understand. any ideas?

does it only do it when you have a full tank? or does it do it no matter how much fuel is in the tank?
