Low Boost Fuel Milage

Not to pick on Ace, but It was a good post to quote as I was reading another thread...

What is everyones experience with backing out the star wheel and smoke screw like ace suggests?

THe PO of my truck had the star wheel bottomed out already, I put on an HX35 with a 14cmW/G, when I tweaked the pump I left the star wheel low and turned on the smoke screw in 2 turns. If I drive it normal and roll into the throttle I see a smoke at low boost but no haze or smoke once the turbo spools, this is what I want. My question is running at highway speed my boost is low (~5psi, but no smoke) is there a chance I'm using excess fuel on the highway? I like power but want as much milage as I can get.

Ive got mine tuned like that right now. Smells like dishsoap when I start it. Thinkin about turning the smoke screw back in to give a little more fuel at idle, and lowering the star wheel to get the fuel coming in quicker on boost (12cm housing)

I dont have new injectors, and milage has been going down since I got it. Done know if its my foot, or my adjustments....

my smoke screw is flush or close to it and the star wheel is up, still have smoke at take off if i punch it, but recently since the clutch has been silpping i have been staying under 10 psi of boost which is really hard and i think my mileage is going up, but that might just be because i can't punch it at all.
before tuning it like that though i had a lot of smoke at takeoff.

If you back the star wheel and smoke screw all the way out on a truck with small injectors, it'll be a dog. Try to tune for minimum smoke while still keeping acceptable response. The star wheel sets how much boost is needed to get extra fuel, the smoke screw sets how much fuel you get with no boost.

I've never noticed any difference with the starwheel adjustment, up or down. I keep mine all the way up and then some. Why give it more fuel than it has air to burn?
