Unhappy Lift pump is dead, need new fuel lines also.

My lift pump is dead after 237,000 miles. I guess it lasted long enough, and the guy gave me a new one when i bought the truck. He said he bought it incase it ever went out. Good thing too, I'd hate to be the one buying it.

Anyway, i cant seem to get the fuel lines off going to it. Where can i get new ones and how much will they cost?

The metal one that run out of the lift pump to the fuel filter housing from Cummins probly would run ~$30. It will have a part number on it on a tag.

Do you still have a metal line entering the lift pump from the tank? Reason I ask, on my 89, I have a metal line which stops about 8" from the lift pump, then a section of rubber fuel line attached to a 90* fitting in the lift pump. Someone told me they have a metal line that attaches directly to their LP, not a rubber line like mine..??

Either way, Cummins will have your metal lines= not cheap. Or just buy a section of rubber fuel line from a parts store if thats how your's is set up.

BTW its all metric on the big bad Cummins. So if you're having trouble removing something, make sure you're using metric wrenches and sockets.

Mine came apart with no problems when I changed it?

I'm going to be putting a piston lift pump in mine, so I will have the old line from the pump to the filter head available soon. Gimme a week or so - it's stinkin' hot out.
