Sure they are compatible...just not with a single charger

KTA made his 627hp with a stock afc lever. Wanna, maybe you could check on a stock afc lever out of a core or from Bosch or Cummins.

I've tuned on this some more. Got FULL throttle travel now at the pump. With go pedal on the floor, the throttle arm swings all the way back and contacts the pump where the high idle screw used to be . I'm sure this is plenty . Didn't take me long to put in my cut fuel pin and turn the starwheel down a bit. Amazing how with a tiny blip of the throttle the boost gauge jumps . I need to get on a dyno, I'm sure 400hp can be had with this setup and a 35.
Haven't had a chance to do a bonzai run with the max throttle travel yet. Before the throttle arm was contacting the fuel supply line, a good inch before the arm contacted the pump's body. A few minutes with the diegrinder took care of that.
I'm not sure if a South Bend con-fe will handle this setup. They rate it 550hp, 1000ftlb. Well at 500hp our rigs are way past that on torque, more like 1300ftlbs. So I'm not sure about clutch choice.
Stomp was right, you do one thing to your truck, ya gotta turn around and do two or three more things to it . If only I had a nv4500 with a 1 3/8" input shaft, then I'd be looking at a double disk clutch.. I need a sponsor .

Actually thats the one gauge I haven't peeked at closely yet. Boost and tach and the road mostly so far. I'll let you guys know more once I done some more runs. During the week, its just 5 miles to and from work, not enough time to warm it up, so I don't hammer on it.

Well, have you got anymore road time on this pump yet? Just wondering if you have poured the coals to it yet and how it stacks up to your old pump? How much of a HP increase would you say you gained if you had to guess?? Guess it's time to knock the dust off of mine and get to work. Just waitin on some parts to come in.

Keep us informed Bill...

Cody, I've done some more tuning to it. More so that the getrag and or clutch is hurting. I now have a hard time getting it into 1st or 2nd. This isn't from driver misuse, just too much torque I'd say. Took it out Friday night after tuning. Boost is instant, I've never had anything smaller than a 16cm housing, but I'd imagine spool up is close to a 12cm . Finally put my 60psi gauge to the test , seen 50psi for the first time , could smell clutch and now 1st and 2nd are hard to engage from a stop. This is all with a intercooler that won't hold air during an IC test. I'd venture a guess that I've broken the 400hp barrier with a hx35 . Stomp and KTA both gained about 100hp, I'd say about the same here. Won't get on a dyno probly til next spring. By then hopefully I'll have a clutch and nv4500 installed.

I know once I get the new turbo here and installed, I should see more power, just blowing a bunch of hot air right now.

Swank, pyro is easily controlled. 1500* can be had, just depends on the right foot.

Edit: Once I get the air, if I can only get Brian to let me try out a set of his BIG injectors...

Thanks for the update. It sounds like you are having fun with the setup. One thing I forgot to ask you about earlier is how is the smoke compared to the old pump? I would imagine it's pretty insane, but just curious. Guess I need to stop by the pump shop in the morning on my way to work.

I think it's time to take the truck to the track and see what kind of times it will turn...finish that tranny and clutch off proper. I would love to see some more 1/4 mile times out of the 1st gens on the board. Hopefully I can put down a respectable time at the DHRA finals in Houtson Nov12.

Smoke: just running around town there is less smoke since the boost comes up so quick, plus I have the starwheel up top, before it was on the bottom. Out on the highway in 4th wide open or 5th wide open it smokes just as much as before- insane. Surprisingly this setup with lean afc settings it doesn't smoke as bad as one would think. Still have the POD haze at idle when the engine is cold, but that never bothered me.

Cody, with all that air, you would love this pump. I read on diesel central that Pastor Bob's brother's got his 14mm pump built and flowed it on a bench, and it flowed half as much fuel as the PDR Stoopid pump ... Definately a good design. If you or your pump shop doesn't want to do the install, the money was well spent having Brian do the build himself.

Yeah, I have been following that and I have to admit that it's very impressive if they have that pump flowing in the 400cc+ range. I'd also be curious to know what size orfice they are running on the test stand. I will be eager to hear to see how much HP Pastor Bob's brother's truck makes if he's flowing that much fuel. Guess I need to quit dragging my heels and try start making some HP.

I cant help but laugh when Joe Donnelly was saying that 300hp was the max on these pumps 3 years ago on the TDR. Sad thing is everyone takes his word as the gospel truth.

Hi Guys.....since it's my brother's rig and all his R&D $$$ I can't give away all the results...at least not until he says ok...and he will...
The pump flows horrendous amounts of fuel, what do you need over 300cc's at 1000 RPM for......we're actually trying to find a way to limit the idle value it's that wicked....400cc, yer getting closer....
He ran three or four sets of tips if I recall...starting with some "basic" p-pump injector value tips and went up from there....it just got wilder N wilder...had the pump guy actually hiding behind the stand as they ran the RPM up to about 3600 RPM.....nasty......
One surprising item....even at very high volumes...the pressures remaind real good but we did make some other internal alterations to be fair...course there are some DV changes coming to see what we can do with that end of it.....

So, while I can't give away too much more at this time I will say that Brian did us ALL a service with this design and R&D...which, believe me is not cheap.
My brother has WELL over $5000.00 into shop/bench/rebuilt/swap out parts/run and re-run so far and he's NOT done yet....it's just a howl to work with him on this cause we're really trying to see what these old girls can do if they have the time/parts/dollars put behind them.....

pb....

edit: if you are going to go with an NV4500 upgrade go to the 13 1/4" conversion and go with the clutch rated above 400 HP....my brother's new setup with the "up to 400 HP" setup is NOT enough.

Hey Pastor, just to put some things into perspective here, how much fuel does a stock 140hp pump put out cc`s wise?
