KSB does nothing.....
KSB does nothing.....
So I pulled the wire off my KSB thingy for fun... and nothing happened.
I even took a wire straight from the batt to the KSB while running and no change....
Shouldn't I have heard a change in timing?
The non I/C trucks should see 12v+ while running (warm ) right?

Yes, the early trucks have 12 volts applied warm. On these early pumps, the solenoid uses a wax pellet which expands to change the timing. There will be a definite time lapse between applying power and hearing the change, unlike the intercooled trucks which are instant.
I find the change easier to hear by giving the throttle little jabs, than by just listening to it idle. It'll be more "rappier" with more timing.

Yup, depending on outside temps, it could be a full minute or so before the KSB does its thing. If you don't have your timing bumped already, it'll be tough to hear any change at all. As was stated--goose the throttle to listen for the rattle.
