Kingpins

Pulled my front end apart after work and found the drivers side kingpin to be totally worn, and the drivers wheel bearings overheated a bit. I ruined the threads on one of my new tie rod ends trying to get it loose...
The passenger side bearings look fine, but maybe I should replace them just to be sure. This is turning out to be a bigger job than I wanted.

So what's the best way to clean out all the grease and stuff from inside the hubs and housings? Pressure wash? I don't have access to a parts cleaner.

You don`t have to get the insides of the hubs (the space between the bearings I`m assuming) surgically clean, just have to get the majority ofold grease/mung out of there. That said I use a big wad of paper towels and sort of corkscrew it thru the hub, you`ll find that will get 90% of the old stuff out and keep your hands clean(er) at the same time.

That's what I do followed by a swab or 2 with a diesel soaked rag then a brakekleen rinse.

Never had a problem ding that.

I finally ended up heating the one side up on mine glowing red before it came out would the impact. The other side I just did the plastic bushing because I ran out of time and needed the truck.

I got them from partsmike.com, and I think the whole kit at $130.

It took an 8' cheater to pop the kingpins, but they came loose no problem. I tightened them the same way.
