King of MPG BS

Local East Texas Craigslist ad.
1991 12 valve DRW. Auto,a/c,pwr Windows, locks, remote start. 191k.No smoke,No leaks,NO RUST, air bags in rear . Fuel tank in bed 90 gal. Sony sound, amp.Up to 31 mpg. No gooseneck , NO HOLES ,no cracks, no blow by,no vibration, exc. 2 spare tires. 15k hitch on back,...triple disc, deep sump,H D trans. Reasonable offers considered.
Or at least I think this one is fibbing. I hear a good built transmission helps with MPG.

I'm laughing at the claim, but I have been wrong in the past.

Yeah doubt the 31 mpg....but not impossible I guess? Would have to be the perfect conditions though....hwy driving, temps, and combination of tires, and drive train components.

What's the big deal ?

31MPG ? Hell, that's easy. Just put the truck up on jack stands, start it up, and put it in drive. I bet you get a lot better MPG than that !!!!

I'm building this little half ton '03 regular cab short bed right now with a 12v/a518. should be about 700 lbs lighter than a D250 and much better aerodynamically. with some light mods, fresh injectors, advanced timing, electric fan, good tires, and good fluids, my goal is 25 mpg highway. which after talking to another gent who has done a similar swap, is a moderate goal.

now in a 1st gen DRW truck. nope. heck, i'm tickled pink to get over 18mpg in my W250.

i had the same turbo on my '93 before the he351cw swap and it actually ran about 100* cooler on the highway than the stock H1C/18.5cm housing did. spools really nicely as well.

but you are correct in assuming that it is better suited in a lighter, non-towing vehicle, which this '03 will be. most it will ever haul is a motorcycle trailer or flat towing my jeep.

The 3.07 gears, street tires aired up to 70 PSI and a lock up 47 RH transmission where a key part of the MPG puzzle as well.
