Halo Ring.

If you are referring to the lamp that illuminates the Halo Ring?

I just happened to have some pictures. The lamp is a miniature wedge base lamp and I got one for my truck from Pep Boys but I do not remember the number.

I was going to convert this one to an LED but I do not think the thermal timer would work because there is not enough resistance to heat it up and burn you.

I would have to make a simple electronic timer to replace it.

Jim

OT, but how hard would it theoretically be to swap a tilt column in place of a non-tilt column? I'm gonna put a manual in place of the 727 at some point too, so it's in the plans.

Jim, that looks like a 2721 bulb.

No, I'm not a genius, I had to find some of the little boogers this week to get the dash lights on the ol' Benz working.

That thermal timer gets hot even if the bulb is burnt out, I think an LED would do just fine in there...

Now Jim has another fun project.

Bolt-in. They didn't redesign the truck round the column.

Well, I'm obviously not a genius. The 74 has a slightly wider base than the 2721.

It's under the dash near the column, it looks kinda like a turn signal flasher but it's about 2/3 the size. If you leave the door open for a few minutes it should be pretty warm to the touch.

If the timer is getting hot it's gotta be either a bad timer or bad wiring. Is there ground at the bulb plug?
