Question Key "in" Buzzer

While working under/behind the dash of the son's truck, I was getting quite annoyed at listening to that constant buzzing.

I found a yellow box, with six terminal/prongs, mounted on a bracket, just above a black box that said intermittent-wiper control somesuch.

This yellow box was buzzing and vibrating, right up until the second that I un-plugged it.

The yellow box is laying on a shelf and the buzzing is no more.

My question is, have I lost any vital functions, by un-plugging this noise-maker??

Thanks.

I didn't when I unhooked mine. This was be fore the 1800 mile trip to New Orleans. I got tired of it buzzing when the door was shut and I was driving around.

Nah, you're good. We had a 1st gen, and ripped that crap out when the truck was brand new. No problems.

Nope, unless you are prone to locking the keys in the truck.

That was the first mod I did. Left lights on once after that, but just for a couple hours.

I changed mine to one of the soft "Ding-Dong" electronic chimes from RadioShack a long time ago.

I guess I will rig this one into an alarm-clock to wake the dead, or maybe a civil-air-defense warning buzzer, something more worthy of something that annoyingly loud.

Thanks.

[QUOTE=BearKiller]"...This yellow box was buzzing and vibrating, right up until the second that I un-plugged it..."

So it didn't continue to buzz direct AFTER you unplugged it? Doesn't sound quite right to me...

"...The yellow box is laying on a shelf and the buzzing is no more..."

It isn't?? Hmmmm. Better take in to the dealer and see what codes it throws.

"...My question is, have I lost any vital functions, by un-plugging this noise-maker??..."

Aside from vision, taste, sight, smell, hearing, all sensation in the left arm/leg, thought, memory, motor skills and income, probably nothing serious. Oh yeah, and the headlight-on reminder.

You can just unplug the door open buzzer that way it still buzzes when you leave your lights on.

But that would terminate your interior courtesy light also...

Leaving lights on is something soccer-moms are prone to do.

No soccer-moms are ever about our trucks.

Thanks for the concern, though.
