It's very easy, just take your time, follow the directions, clean everything very good, you will be glad you did it yourself and will know your truck even better after you are finished. That is the beauty of this truck, it is easy to repair and the more you do the more you know your vehicle. I just know there is someone near you that would be willing to make a road trip to help you for lunch and a cold drink. Come on guys, do I have to go over to TDR to get this guy some help or are you going to step up and help him?

All he has to do is follow the instructions from TST And it's a cake walk. the instructions also point out what bolts to take out under the cover (one at a time) to put loc-tite on and re-torque. All he needs is a little help with the fan (4 hands are better than 2 here). The TST instructions even have pictures to help guide anyone through it.

It's easy. And even easier if you take the time to pull the radiator. Watch out and don't put dents in the intercooler though. I put a little ding in mine trying to get an impact wrench on to the crank damper bolts. I ended up chocking the wheels and using a breaker bar with a pipe on it. Took almost as much time to clean the parts than it did to do the mechanicking.

I bet the dealership wil not even know what you are talking about..

Do it yourself.. or simply just ask for someone in Texas to help you.. if you ask nicely I bet someone wil help you..

just a note on getting that fan off: there's a wrench kit with the huge spanners specifically for fans and not that expensive in some stores. Also I think it's a left-hand thread so hold the WP shaft and turn the fan clock-wise looking from the front. I hope somebody will confirm this as it's quite a while since I ripped mine out.

That's right it is reverse threads. I think Autozone will have a loaner fan wrench you can get. Go on and do it, you won't be sorry.

I have a person on the New Mexico TDR site that may be able to help you. I am waiting on a response on contact info. They live in Las Cruces and said they were in EL Paso everyday.

I must be lazy. I removed the fan as an assembly on my 91.5 Removing the four bracket mounting bolts was quicker and easier for me than messing around with that fan to bearing mounting hub that did not want to budge.

BTW, as info, I found my dowel pin sticking out of the steel timing cover behind the balancer.
