Kdp

I'm fixing the one on My engine right now, how long does the pin have to come out to fall. What I need to know also if someone knows is how long is this pin.

Thank You.

All the way?

It's about 1/2" long.

Tap it back in and pin it.

Now that you bring it up, I looked at my 93 last night and the area around the pin has a different shape than my 96, making me wonder how it should be fixed. It seems like the bolt closest to the pin location is further back in the case than the boss the pin goes through. This is different from my 96, where I just tabbed it with a modified fender washer. I did feel better that the pin has not moved at all, so far.
I have an 89, 91.5, and this 93 that all may need fixing, so instructions on the best way to do this will be appreciated. I'd like to tab it, since it does not require a jig that is required to pin it.

Thanks,
Chris

Well the pin is far inside and seem like it never moved in 200k miles and what I did was drill a hole and tap it then drive a flat head stainless steel screw to stop it from falling.

Now what happened here is something I'm not really proud of but the screw ended further away from the pin than I planed . So... I wanted to know how long is this pin in case it moves the screw will stop it anyway. I know I'm an idiot, is looks perfect but I wish it where just a bit closer.

You dont need anything to push on the kdp pin, just something to plug the hole so it can't come out .....from your description it sounds fine to me.

Well I'm almost 1/4" away from the tunnel where the pin goes in but the pin is deep inside it about 3/8" from the beginning of the tunnel.

Just take a punch and peen the case around the hole. That's the official Cummins fix.
