k&n vs. bhaf???

i'm hoping to get my intake done really soon. i've already bought a k&n with a filter minder. it's been on a shelf in my room for months now. i hear a lot of good things about the bhaf (cheaper, etc..). what are your thoughts/opinions on which would be the better way to go. i could always turn around and sell the k&n if you guys recommend the bhaf. TIA!!

I haven't heard very many good things about K&N on diesel applications. My vote if for the BHAF.

i did read somewhere that if you over oil them, you'll oil your comp. wheel and send the oil through the I/C, i wouldn't wanna chance that.

I actually heard that if you oil them as you are suppose to that the oil can be sucked out and cause problems. And of course if you dont oil them they will dry out and tare.

I would vote for the bhaf with a outer wear.

The issue with K&N's is over-oiling. No harm comes from this. It can get some oil on your compressor wheel. The BHAF will filter a little better. I have had a K&N on my pickup for over 10 years. No issues with it.

cool. thanks for all the replies so far everyone. clearly the choice is the BHAF. should've asked around before i bought the k&n, but i was caught up following the 'project rust bucket' build in the diesel power mags. i can pick up the BHAF through napa right? somewhere around $50 IIRC. that being said, i hope i can find someone to buy this k&n since i won't need it. anyone have the part number? very appreciated!

I gave my K&N away before the second scheduled cleaning/oiling , .... I never calculated any fuel or performance improvement towing or otherwise, and I never want to clean another filthy item like that again, especially given the cleaning instructions, no compressed air, gasoline, kerosene, etc. The risk to the turbo never occurred to me fortunately, .. yikes!

I've had both, and I like the BHAF. With the K&N (oiled from the factory), I would find dust inside of my intake tube. This is where I bought my BHAF, it was much cheaper than NAPA. I think NAPA wants about $70, if I remember correctly.
