just curious...
first i love the 81-93 rams i have oned mulitples of most years
then i got the 92 CTD and LOVE THAT
i am the type of person that disagrees (< for lack of a better term) with computer controlled crap on my cars or trucks therefore the early 98 would be the last year for me!
well wrong i just got a 03 Cummins a truck i would have NEVER EVER bought if it were a Hemi

honestly i am a fan of anything diesel!!! like the fords my dads had a 7.3 and now has a 6.0 the cummins are just BEARS for an engine they are a pull anything dont care kinda motor, and the duramax...........i dont know about them but the sound cool with an exhaust on!
yeah i am not gonnna lie i bought my truck because of the motor and it has kinda grown on me. I owned a mint 1991 4 door dually f 350 with a rebuilt non turbo 7.3 in it. in one way im kicking myself for getting rid of it because it was the cleanest one ive ever seen and the interior was very comfy with the lariat package. But the cummins drives so nice and sounds the best bar none. But i gotta tell you guys the craftmanship on the truck portion is very outdated. This isnt a bash on these old dodges cuz it has grown on me but i will always be a ford/cummins man who kinda likes dodges now. Again, im not bashing dodge i just dont like the small things that constantly go wrong with these trucks that add up.
i love my truck i was just curious how many of you are like me and how many just so happen to be dodge men who love the cummins as well.

I'm Old Dodge, True and Thru.......................................BUT i would put the Cummins on a shelf, or two, above that!!!!!!!!!!
If i was given a joke or a maxi, i would sell it for the price to make a Hot Rod Cummins

Interesting that someone brought this subject up. I originally never gave a thought toward the 89-93 Dodge Rams. My friends were the ones to get me into the whole Dodge Cummins diesel craze. They both owned 97' 12 valve rigs. I loved the way thier 12V pickups sounded.......but I also frowned at the cost of buying one (this was 7 years ago). The affordability of buying a 2nd gen 4x4 extended cab was well beyond my college kid budget. I later learned that Dodge stuffed 12V into the old 89-93 Ram body style.......BINGO!!! I started to look real hard and noticed these pickups were not overwhelming common or cost over $10K for a decent one. The more I researched these pickups, the more I liked what I saw. The 89-93 rigs are affordable, easy to work on, they stand out at Diesel Events because not many folks have em', some of the components are tuff (axles and suspension) and best of all they have no after-market (each rig you see is a true custom representation of it's owner). I am not partial to one brand of pickup........but I am a Cummins Man. If Ford put a 12V in their mid-90's crew cabs pickups......I would have bought one in a heartbeat.
I don't plan on getting rid of my 93' anytime some, if anything I'll just keep upgrading components to meet my needs.
People always ask me: "why do you drive that old diesel? Wouldn't it be better to just buy a newer one rather than spending money to upgrade this old truck?" Then I say: "ask yourself this: go out and buy a new Dodge Cummins pickup for $50K+ and then take that same amount of money and invest it into a 1st gen and all the tricked out assessories you can find." See how much money you saved on option #2

I am a MOPAR guy. My first car was a 65 cuda which I still have and I have owned over 75 mopar products since I was 15 from dodge colts to darts, challengers, road runner and the list goes on. I have wanted the truck I have now since I first saw and rode in it in 1996 and I finally got it last year. But on the same token a car is a car anymore I would just prefer a Dodge, not to mention if I got a chevy or ford my friends would never let me live it down since I bust chops with them about thier vehicle of choice.
I bought a cummins and it happend to come with a dodge. I would rather have a chevy 3/4 4x4 with a cummins, but my dodge is a close second. I like the ease of finding parts for chevy. Before this about every car and truck I had was a chevy with a small block. I love the blocky, square, brick look of the first gen. I am happy with the lack of on board computer controls. If it came down to it jump one wire to the fuel shut off, bump the starter with a screwdriver and your off. Sometimes simple is much better.
