So why was the diesel tank too much work. I was going to put it in my crew but I have a 3 tank setup in there now that is haggard.

The diesel tank was too tall under the crew cab . i could of re shaped it like Bruiser did by using a heat gun to warm up the plastic but after a half hour i gave up.

So your saying the d250 tank was to big? If so then try using the stock tank from your cc. The guy who did my conversion tried to use the donor tank and he butchered it. So i just put the stock tank back in ...not a problem. For some reason i just think putting the cc on the x-tended frame is a better fit. I believe the frame and other components are beefier due to the truck being built with a diesel. Now that's just me thinking.. I might be wrong, i really haven't got in there and took measurements or did research on the tensile strength of the frame.

I'm not sure its any beefier (i didn't mic it).but the d250 frame jogs up sooner than the CC frame causing problems for the CC cab.
If someone didn't want to swap every thing over or didn't have the frame
modifying the cab wouldn't be a big deal.

yup.. it was a pain in the butt to get tank to change shape.. and after i got it shapped I had to put a piece of wood on it, then keep it compressed for 24 hrs for it to hold shape.

the test is going to be when it really warms up(summer) to see if tank tries to heat up and expand back to its original shape

wow... I might have to seriously look at getting a large fuel xfer tank for the bed.

Too bad the bed is already a shorty...

the plus side is that I might still be able to keep the brownie aux trans in there... The diesel tank won't be able to fit with it back there as it is now.

a tank should fit just fine from a 90's diesel Mine was from a 93 and it bolted right back in without any problem's . But I also had a body lift so maybe thats why I didn't have any problem's

Yep body lift would of made it work.

My plan to use the crew cab for mostly road trips as a tow rig, hopefully I don't need to carry any more than the 30 gallons
If do I thought about using a tank behind the seat from the earlier trucks.(no idea if they fit)

you probably didnt have an issue since yours was a long bed. iirc the problem is that the tank hits the bottom of the cab when used in a short bed crew.

That's good to know because my new project is going to be a shortbed crewcab but I think I will go back with a body lift anyway I plan to run a 325-85 R 16 michellin tire again just not going to go 11 inches of lift this time

here are some pics of '92 regular cab diesel tank in my '85 crew cab

you see the hump at rear of cab, that was what I had to heat and shape.. it sticks up to high for the crew cab ( unless you have abody lift)

this last pic sort of shows the little gap I ended up with after shaping it
