IP Reseal Questions
Thanks for the link and the encouragement all. I went ahead and bought a head as well as a gasket kit and new bolts. I don't want the extra downtime associated with the existing head being at a machine shop for checks. The way my luck has been as of late it won't likely pass them anyhow.
The rear u joint is a 1410 correct? Where is the best place to find a CV rebuild kit? I've got a clunk developing in the rear that I might as well knock out now.

I finished it up earlier this afternoon. So far so good. I was pretty impressed with the ebay loaded head. Casting looked better than I expected & it was boxed well & shipped quick. Chased all the threads as a precaution but I didn't need to.
I tried to save a few bucks by buying "aftermarket" head bolts off ebay.
The short bolts were either the wrong thread pitch or the threads were so out of spec that I could only get about 4mm engagement by hand. All but 2 of the middle row bolts were 5mm to long. It took me about 2 hours to figure out it was the bolt and not me. All the long rocker pedestal bolts worked fine. I wouldn't recommend anybody by ebay bolts. The quality control is pretty poor. I've yet to hear back from the vendor.
Other than that and some rain saturday morning, everything went pretty smoothly.
Hopefully, now old girl will run long enough for me to at least get my tools put away.

As of now, it's all still in. I feel like I read somewhere that RWAL is essentially the only form of "load regulation" in the stock system so I want to see if it will stay alive for a bit. I was also in a hurry & leaving it in only required making 2 flares to adapt it to the 2nd gen master.
Ill report back with any changes.
