IP question

Not to sound like more of a newbie than I already am but here goes...I have turned my Full Fuel Adjutment Screw in one turn. I was told by a diesel mechanic that it will raise the fuel pressure of the VE and that he has blown one up by turning that screw too far in. If it does raise the pumps pressure, how far is too much and I was just wondering what was safe and what wasn't. Also I was wondering if there is major power in this pump tweak...Any help will be appreciated and once again thanks for not being too hard on the newcomer

It does not raise the fuel pressure. It does increase the effective stroke of the pump plunger, though, and that puts more load on the cam ring and rollers. Make sure you run some sort of lubricity additive (Stanadyne, Power Service, or even 2 stroke oil) to keep the pump happy.

The main fuel screw is the most power you can get for free.

I'm running mine in as far as it will physically go. I have one of the pumps that bottoms out before the engine won't shut down.

I am on a budget right now as I am a high school student, so is this mod recommended because i know you all at least can save the money to put into a pump rebuild. I definitely love to see that power and would not be opposed to doing it, but what is a safe amount of turns where large amounts of stress are not being put on the cam lobe? How many rebuilds have yall had on your pumps?would you recommend this mod knowing that I dont have a whole let to spend at the time being.....?

No pump rebuilds yet on mine. Been cranked for 40k so far. Mileage on the pump is unknown.

I would not hesitate to turn the pump up.
