Interchangeable body parts
More door and fender facts........
I recently replaced the passenger door and fender on my 1993 D250 and keep in mind that if you get 81-90 panels (like I did) the trim is different and mounted in different spots than the 91-93 1st gens which mean you have holes to fill in and mounting studs to grind off just to make everything plain again for stock LE trim to attach. Also the 1985 door I used had a different door latch assembly with different countersunk mounting holes that woundn't accept the 93 latch assembly which meant I had to go back to the junk yard and get the stryker bolt off the 85 to make it catch right. The electric door lock motors are different also and I had to redrill mounting holes and modify the 93 lock motor and the linkage to work on the earlier door. Next time I will try and find a no trim model for doors and fenders and save all that extra body work. I hope what I learned will save others the frustration I got.
