Interchangeable Weedeater Shafts

I have a Ryobi weedeater, that is identicle to the TroyBuilt ones at Lowes.

It is set up for interchangeable shaft attachments.

Does anyone know where I can buy the various accessory shafts??

I need the one with a plain old removeable string head; Lowes only has the Speed Spool type that is molded on the shaft end, and impossible to remove.

That is the kind I already have; it won't come off to use blades, etc.

Thanks.

my ryobi meet my tool box last nite.

the OEM head failed last year or so.

put on a "slingblade" head with 3 plastic blades.
that wore out first day.

put 3 peices of flat steel in there.
that was DANGEROUS.

i finally bought a head that bolts on & has feed thru line holes, you just put ~14 inches of string in, and center it, on each side.

well this weekend, the assemlby on the end of the shaft feel down on that & melted.

so long story short, there is a set screw in the top of the housing/end of the shaft.

disassemble till it will work like you want.

i've nothing but the metal part left now, to serve as a "bearing" more or less, and the string adapter.

that make any sense?

Try checking at a tractor equipment shop. Like one that deals w/ commercial mowing equipment. They will usually have an adapter to use a new head.

I had a Ryobi unit that bit the dust. Bought a 4 stroke Troybilt and the attachments for the Ryobi fits the Troybilt.

Same here. Except I think I had 2 Ryobi's that went south. The Troybilt 4 stroke one is nice.
Then I hired someone to do my yard and now it just hangs on my garage wall.

You can get Ryobi stuff at the Home Depot. They have many attachments.

They also have the Ryobi stuff at Tractor Supply Company, although I'm not sure how much they have left since they are changing seasonal stuff over to winter.

They also have the stuff at Rural King and Menard's if you have any of those. Maybe even Walmart. But it usually is pretty seasonal. You may have to wait till next spring. The different brands that all look alike are interchangeable.

Amazon.com and Menard's both carry them I know. If you're looking at the edger attachment, I bought one and about gave myself carpal tunnel trying to do my rather long sidewalk. Gave up on it after one time and went and bought a real edger for $20 at a garage sale. Much happier with that.
