installing a flat bed

i just came across some new to me information about installing a flat bed.my insurance company says,if you put a flat bed on your 3/4 ton single wheel pickup you need commercial insurance.it's a new thing in pennsylvania.if you don't tell them and have a claim they won't pay.just a word for the wise.everyone seems to be looking for a buck anywhere they can.

Do you have some documentation related to this?

A stock pickup can be used commercially just as a flat bed truck can be used to haul a camp trailer. The shape of the bed has nothing to do with it's commercial status

Have you notified the flatbed manufacturer's of this.. I'm sure they would be interested in the information and would assist any way they could..

Somebody should write a letter to the congressman... and have laws set forth to stop insurance companys from making up laws of their own, randomly.

That's nuts! Make the center overlay of the bed 1/2'' taller that the others and call it a concave bed--insure that, smart-butt

This is true.

I have State Farm insurance on my trucks. My dually has a flatbed. They require me to carry commercial insurance because of the bed no matter how hard I argued that it was personal use only. It's a bummer, but the cost was only 6 bucks extra a month.
