One more thought. It is also up to each police man to decide whether or not the noise is to much. Each cop has the final say. I get mad when they pick on cars and trucks but leave harley davidsons with straight pipes alone. My dad is a retired cop and he was very fair on noise unless ther was a complaint.

 

They only measure opacity. ie; smoke density. Muffler different issue as that is related to noise and safety.

 

I feel for you people and those inspection issues. We are lucky here (Hoodsport Wa.) no inspections of any kind on any vehicle. The state legislature exempted themselves (Olympia) and everything NW of there(Olympic Peninsula). Cut the cat off, cut the muffler off, unplug all the garbage, no one is the wiser. Yaaaa - hoooo, I love it.

well our inspections in texas arent bad or @ least @ my garage they arent, just brakes, wipers, horn, brights, seatbelt and we check the tires, just cant have any exhaust leaks either, but there is always a way to fix whats wrong or shoot maybe just let 'em slide...... but i never would

 

i usually don't have trouble getting my truck inspected but every now and then theres that one jerk that wants to make some more money off of me or give me crap cause im 20 and he thinks im just out to cause trouble.
