Inspection Fail

Took my truck to Monroe for an inspection and I failed because of an inadequate paint job. Also, I was told to bring my windshield so they could scan the stick.. apparently they didn't want to inspect the truck because the window was broken and was a hazard. I have another inspection so hopefully this place helps a fellow american out.

Really...inadequate paint job!! Like that's a safety hazard! And to not do the inspection because of the windshield?

If your paying them to inspect the truck, even with a broken windshield, they should do a proper inspection and just point out all the deficiencies that are required to pass on the next inspection.

I wish there was places that did give that kind of service. I run an auto shop on the side and we're family owned. I would never tell a customer that... I would help them fix the problems if there was any and give suggestions. We got in a heated argument and I told him this is not how you do business.

I know my body work is not done but I have five cord of woods that needs to be hauled this weekend. The vehicle was no were near non-operational. I made it there..

I bought my 68 T/C wagon out of the USA, which meant I had to go through a Gov't inspection to be able to register and insure it in Canada. The shop that did my inspection, the guy particularly , was super picky. He failed me the first time because my vent wing windows, which are hand crank to open, did not function....and I had 4 light bulbs out in the dash cluster!!

But they did do the inspection regardless of it apparent condition. Hope the other shop treats you better.

In this province you can fail for nearly anything. Windshield washer tank is low=fail. Windshield is cracked in your viewing area OR one side to the other=fail. Rust through body = fail. Check engine light=fail. It will not pass until it's fixed, you only have one month to have it repaired or you pay again

So it has no windshield installed?

What state are you in?

Missing or broken windshield is a legit fail, but paint is not.

They probably need the registration sticker on the windshield to complete the inspection. Also, with no windshield, they have nowhere to stick the inspection sticker, and they're not going to just hand it to you for you stick on...the paint is BS, but did you really expect to pass?

Yeah, I had a new windshield installed. Everything works, brakes, lights, turn signals backup lamps. Power windows, locks.. Everything. Ny state. I think kittle is right, the guy was having a bad day. At least give me a temp inspection and what needs to get fixed. All I got was a slammed door in my face and then I went into mode

Back when Anchorage had IM testing, there were a couple shops everyone was warned away from because they would fail you. Then tell you you have to have it fixed before you can drive it away. Underhanded way to create business for yourself. One got caught and the owner went to jail.

Monroe wanted to sell you a paint job, too.
Know a guy who took an old mercedes there for PA state inspection. Headlights out of adjustment, torn seat, crooked bumper, heater stuck on defrost (that's the one thing it's required to have, that's why it got stuck there). Saw a guy with a mercedes and thought they were gonna make a mint off a restoration for him.

In AZ, it is the state MVD that does the safety inspections on out of state cars. It is a private company that does emissions testing...Mark
