Injectors

Alright guys. I have never been interested in buying injectors because I didn't want to eat the mileage. I don't know if my stock injectors are good or not, however. how much does it cost to get them pop tested, and what can i do with them if they're bad. Just considering my options here. can i get them rebuilt or get different tips? Can I do any of this myself to save money? If I have to replace them i cannot see getting stock ones again, so any advice about what to buy? (rather spend good money on injectors that won't drink lots of fuel)

Thanks Guys!

Why don't you try some Bosch 190's. Good mileage, a little more power, and not ton's of money.

I don't feel big injectors cause bad milage it's the heavy right foots. Lol. I run a ton of fuel through my truck and get consistent 22mpg+ @ 80mph. I have a 2wd duallie with 3.50 gears which helps. If you buy quality injectors regardless of size you should keep the milage the same or better as long as you drive nice.

19 mpg on my last tank. I'm sure at least a gallon of that went up in smoke.

well pciked up a set of used PODs off of here for 300 bucks. i guess the po couldnt handle them. and i get 19ish on the high way unloaded. and 17ish towing 4 quads, while rolling on 40s and up about 9"s. the MPGs are all in the right foot. cause when i want i can black out the highway at will. and thats not even that bad. those PODs are alot of fun when you come across tailgaters, or riceburners.

So you're saying a quality injector won't hurt my mileage if I can keep my foot out of it!?

I have thought about it a little bit, and I want to be able to use the pedal without blacking out a highway (and risking a ticket). I think I want to stay on the light side, even though I know I am gonna get something bigger as soon as my truck turns from a DD to a body off restoration project. lol

Can stock injectors be "rebuilt?" I think I might have mine tested. Does it make any sense that I am trying to relate a hard cold starting problem to faulty injectors?

I think you can rebuild them, not sure on quality nozzles. I know DDP makes them now

I'm real happy with my DDP III's. They are designed more like the Bosch 190's. They flow more than stock, but do it more efficiently. I get 17.5mpg average with plenty going up in smoke and WAY more going out of my sloppy transmission!!

Call a injection shop and get a quote on rebuilding injectors. You may find that buying some new ones a not THAT much more expensive!

I paid a hair under $500 for my set delivered to me with no core. I see their prices are just a HAIR higher now (about $20 per set). I got them off ebay through Treasure Valley Diesel. Their ebay store was a little cheaper than their website.

If the tips aren't bad, then it should only cost about 100-$150 for the set to clean and reset pop pressures.
