Injector removal help...

I'm trying to remove my injectors from 91.5 Intercooled D250. I removed the injector line, and return line, and the 15/16" clampdown nut. I am having the hardest time removing the injectors from this point. Please share how to get these out. Thanks for all ideas. -Jeff

I have cut down a piece of copper pipe, put a fender washer on top of it and used a 2nd gen lug nut to screw into the top of the injector.
The lug nut pushes against the fender washer that is spaced off the block using the inch or so piece of copper pipe.

1st gen lug nuts are the same thread as well.

I used a 3 3/4" metal conduit pipe and grinded down an old spare lug nut. I recommend going that long so the engine lift bracket isnt in your way.

Also, you should be using metric tools not standard.

Here is the injector puller that I made.

Using a Metric Lug Nut and threaded rod.
The 3/4" Black Gas Pipe sleeve is 4" long.

I also have a sleeve that is 3" long to pull the front injector.

The injectors slid out with no resistance.

My truck is a 1991 non-intercooled.

It looks like the injectors are screw in/out type. Why is a puller needed?

On my MB, you just remove the injector lines, and loosen and remove the injector like you would a spark plug on a gasser.

Because they aren't scree in/out. The 24mm nut holds the injector in place and puts the pressure on the nozzle face to the head sealing it. The little ball on the injector body clocks the injector in the right spot.

Basically it's just a pressure fit with the injector retainer nut. And you need some sort of pulling tool to free it up to slide out once you remove the retainer nut

I would be careful with using the correct lug nut thread should be m12-1.5 on the injector.

The puller is needed as a bit of carbon buildup causes them to stick in the bore.

The threaded portion below the 24mm nut is what confused me. It looked like a screw in/out type.

Thanks for the info!
