Injector issues

OK, So I toook my original set of injectors to a buddy of mine who owns a diesel shop to have em popped and givin a clean bill of health. 1 tip was replaced and 1 had to get a thin shim to even out the pop pressure between the rest of em, we set em just a smidge low at 240bar, Which according to Bosch is in spec.

Well I finaly got around to gettin em thrown in tonight and after a test drive they seem to run good, the EGTs dropped about 100 degrees and my haze is gone for the most part but they don't make near as much power as the junk stockers I got from Mark a while back. The ones I got from Mark are a set of stock 9mm tipped N/IC sticks that niether of us know anything about. They run excelent make good power but the only issue I have with em is the haze terrible.

So what gives???

hello
I just went through that with my 90 non inter cooled.I discovered the haze was from the springs being weak and the injectors opening at a lower than recommended pressure and there fore sooner or longer . Three were really bad out of the six .250,000 klm equals 1,750,000,000,000. openings !!!! This is assuming that your old ones have four holes and that it adds up to the standard .013 total opening area at 3600 psi at 155 degrees. now the smoking is down but still getting some draw through from the turbo rings . hope this helped

I would gladly take your old ones off of you Andrew.

Serious note. Were the old ones a 7mm tip? Sounds like the old ones were getting weak and retarded timing slightly thus giving you low end power. The new ones are set up correctly and advanced the timing slightly.

Retard the timing a few degrees and see if you get that power back.

actually if the springs where getting weak it would advance the timing. Because they would open at a lower pressure which happens sooner, thus advancing the time at which the fuel enters. Right? talk me out of it...

Agreed. A higher pop pressure would retard timing and a lower pop pressure would advance timing. Hence, why PODs run better with a timing bump having a 260 bar pop pressure compared to our stockers at 245 bar.

Yep Apwatson is right.

I pulled a little timing out about a day before I stuck these ones in and it made the truck really drivable, had awsome power across the board, and it did clear up a little bit of haze But they still smoked pretty good.

The ones I got from Mark are identical to the ones I just put in. They just run SOOOOO much better, But they smoke terrible.

The Ones I got in there now kinda fall flat up top, whereas the old ones would keep pulling. The EGTs did drop about 100 degree's though.

I think you should advance the timing some more...should get your top end back.
