any '05 injector issues?

hello,

have an '05 and it is back in the shop for the 3rd time with injector related issues. first time at about 18k miles the number one had to be replaced. second time at 30k the tubes to the top of the injectors were coming loose, TSB 14-0003-06 preformed and now at 41k i am getting the white smoke and rough idle again at start up. smoke and idle were also present at 18k and 30k. truck in the shop again and i hope to hear from them tomorrow.

my question is anyone that owns an '05 having injector problems and what is causing this? i use PS diesel kleen and drive pretty hard. do not tow often, maybe 5000 lbs once or twice a month.

would really like the advice of any wrenches on the board.

thanks,
david

My 05 had an issue but I found out the bad way you are lucky my friend. My number 4 injector stuck open and took out the everything and I mean everything. Burnt up my piston then peices of it smashed up my heads beyon repair then proceeded to fill the cycliner full of fuel then on the compression stroke there was so much fuel in the cycliner and water that when it tried to compress it could not ignite and cracked my cyclinder wall in half. So I needed a nw everything.

Do you think the Crazy Larry caused it?
Was there any "warning signs"?

I only have 26K, but no problems. I do use PS or Stanadyne, and change my fuel filter every 5 to 7K. I know they will last longer, but they are cheap enough and easy to change.

I'm at 66,000 with no injector problems. I go back and forth between PS and Howes Meaner Power Cleaner. I get a better idle when using Howes. I'm also changing my fuel filter at 10K now instead of 15K.
