Injection Pump Tuning

I'm gonna go out today and rotate the fuel cone, adjust the smoke screw, and try to advance the timing by an 1/8''. None of this is gonna put my engine at risk or being a runaway is it? I just figured these are some small things I could do to get a little more power and MPG's.
Thanks guys and gals.

Nope, no chance of runaway untill you mess with the full fuel screw. Good luck and enjoy your new power

power screw and grind the deep part of the fuel cones ramp even deeper. those are both free mods.

get a 366 spring from Bosch.

also you can remove the "high idle screw". its the threaded rod thats used as a throttle stop. then you need to shim the "gas pedal" so you get full throttle travel when youre driving.

Well I did the smoke screw and the fuel pin and throttle linkage. Honestly, I don't see anything special. The EGT's are a little higher, boost is a little higher, I finally see smoke when I floor it but still not much at all. A little poof. That's about it guys. Any more little bits of help?

Take the washer completely off the cone too. And run down your starwheel. I did all these mods, straight piped, and removed my air box and I could tell much quicker spool and some more power. But I bottomed out the smoke screw and start wheel.

Im waiting for gauges and lift pump till I touch my fuel screw

My opinion for what its worth-

The washer can be sanded to about 1/2 its thickness for best performance with stock pin if i remember correctly.

I would leave the smoke screw stock. It doesnt help power.

The power screw/fuel screw is where the power is hidden with the VE pump. You need to be careful when you turn it though because theres a chance the pump will "runaway" and rev uncontrollably. You should search the topic and become familiar with the fuel screw procedure and if youre uncomfortable with turning it you should ask questions then.
