I'M BACK!!!!! Got another first gen.
I just bought me a heck of a truck. Its a 93' ext cab 3/4 ton 2wd, 220k miles, WELL maintained, 5 speed, power everything. It has a few dents but they are the big ones with no crease in the metal so i am sure i can just pop 80% of them out. It has a couple electrical issues i will ask about later when i rip into it tomorrow. It is totaly stock and has never been "tweeked" other than strait pipe. Its some wierd comfort version, i'll post more info on that later too.
So far what I have planned for tomorrow is all new filters, Royal Purple thru out, clean and detail the inside, redo the exhaust(it rattles).
Also the trany speedo cable is stripped where it fits into the trans and i think its leaking out oil from there. Is there a fix and is this common? I have a good intercooler for a 2nd gen sitting in my garage too, would it be worth putting on?
Also this guy has run biodiesel in it lately and when you get on it hard it has a grey kinda smoke instead of black. it doesnt smell like coolant or oil. he also has documents where it has had the oil and filter changed every 5-6k miles since the day it was new and anytime something broke or quit working he took it to a professional. It has alot of new front end stuff and all new brakes including rotors up front. The trans shifts smoother than any i have ever felt also and there is almost no slack at all in the shifter. It feels more like a 03' than a 93'. Not one speck of rust either.
Oh yea, it was only $1750. I almost feel like I ripped the poor guy off.

With just a strait pipe he said he averaged nearly 23mpg too. What could I get with 4" exhaust, much better intake, all Royal Purple fluids, and pump advanced?
Sorry this is all kinda scatterbrained, i'm just excited!!!!!!

The oil and exhaust will definately improve your mileage. Since its so good already though, I don't know how big the gain will be. I'm thinking 1mpg with the purple stuff

You do have a knack for scoring nice, cheap 1st gens, don't you? Congrats on the new ride JMO, but the laws of physics stop these rolling toaster ovens at about 23mpg, best case scenerio. I've got no problem with good quality lubrication products, mind you. Can't wait to see the pics!
