i think i found it,,,charging problem....
today i was looking at the fuse links nothing really looked bad so i tried grounding the field terminal to see if it made the hand show charge to rule out another failed voltage regulator and i tapped on the black box with all the wires for the alternator and it started charging perfect,,,shut the truck down came back ,,and no charge, hit the box and it started charging perfect,i think maybe that the connections inside are corroded can i just cut that out and replce it with regular connecters,,,,thanks for listening guys please comment if youve had any simmilar problems and how you fixed it,,,,,,,
After you clean the points with emery cloth, or wet-or-dry sandpaper, pull a piece of card stock, like from an index card, or matchbook cover through the points to clean the emery dust off them.
my truck has the voltage regulator on the firewall and im not sure what the thing is on the back of the alternator but i thought it was just a plug but every time i hit it the alternator kicks in,,,is there another regulator in the charging system....
