Charging Problem -- I think ?

I've noticed the last couple of days that when I first start the truck the factory alt gage only shows about 12V, after a minute or 2 it will go up over 14V. Also at night the dash lights will be bright then dim for a few seconds then get bright again. This will last for 5 minutes or so. Don't know if the two are related. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Normal when outside air temp is low and engine is cold. Air preheaters are coming on can draw up to 150 amps or more. Its like a toaster oven in your intake manifold. If it is happening after engine is warm then you may have a problem. You might want to have your battery's tested and terminals cleaned at the batterys also. Read this might help.
