Exclamation I screwed somthing up on my VE

OK heres the story....was workin on putting the 3200 rpm gov spring in my VE everything came off easy as pie until i got to the back allen head screw...the one that is really hard to get to, so i decided to wait till i could get my truck into my buddys shop where i could actually take my time with it and use an overhead creeper, so i put everything back together...she fired right up and idled perfectly but whener you step on the gas the truck would die ...so i have no idea what ive done wrong Has this happend to anyone else?????

Have a close look at the wire going to the fuel shutdown solenoid while you cycle the throttle. Look for a loose connection at the solenoid or for the linkage somehow taking the wire to ground when it's cycled. So, the pump top was not off at all?

He meant the pump top, the cover held down by the 4 allen bolts, not the pump itself. I'm with G1625S, you probably bumped the connection to the shutdown selenoid.

Did you get the throttle lever clocked correctly? If it idles, then dies upon higher throttle, it may be pulling the wrong way.

I think the throttle lever is not clocked right.

Sounds to me like it's too loose. They will want to die when revved when they are loose. Move the lever one spline clockwise.

That happened to me once. I stepped away from the project for two seconds and another guy who didn't know any better pulled the throttle linkage off the splined shaft before I could mark the clocking or even get a decent look! A tad bit irritated that day...

If you pull the linkage again and turn the shaft by hand you'll feel the spring tension against it, get the shaft turned back just to the spring resistance, then look in the stickies here and clock it the same, might require a fine tuning (reclocked a spline etc.) or not. I was sure it was going to be a pump shop deal but it worked out fine for me.
