I've been hearing real good things about the htt Compressor wheel and housing upgrade... Probably a better choice than a hx 35...

then only real upside of the hx35 is the 12cm wastegated housing and the map width enhancement slot
the 12cm is good for the 5speed but the compressor side isn't much better than stock on an intercooled truck

If your gonna fork out the cash for a new turbo make it worth while. As stated above the HX-35 is barely an upgrade. A HX-40 would be a decent priced upgrade but not great for all out hot rodding as they dont like high boost. If you want to spend a little more for a real good turbo get a 62/71/14 S300 turbo. They are available from many companies such as HTT and Industrial Injection. Either turbo would be a big upgrade over stock. Pick a HP figure you want to shoot for and buy the turbo that will support that. The HX-40 will be good to about 325-375hp and the S300 around 400-450hp.

If you decide to go with the compressor upgrade then I think most people have been going with Gillett Diesel Service (GDS) stage II rather than the HTT due to price and availability.

Here is the Gillet site unfortunately there are no prices but the stage II is in the range of $200 from what I've read on here.

http://www.gdsdieselparts.com/1991_5...o_upgrades.htm

The compressor upgrade requires some work though.

Compressor upgrade is easy on intercooled trucks, non intercooled takes a little bit more work but still easy. There is a sticky on how to install one.

He's got a 5-speed. You can upgrade the compressor to 60 mm which is $155 till the price increase in 2009. A exhaust hausing will make it spool up faster and you NEED a 366 govener spring.
I've got all 3 of those parts in a box awaiting installation- This week yea!

I'm happy with my PDR HX-40. It's not the fastest spooling turbo, about the same as an a H1C-18cm setup.

stage 2 ill second it in a recent diesel power they did the swap on a non intercooled truck. i got mine and got the 3 inch v band clamp and got a rubber plumbing collar from a hardware store. i slipped it over the turbo and the housing and used like 4 clamps the thing has seen lots of boost and still hasn't come off.

I have the HTT Stage 4. I love it. Really fast spool up right off the bat and low EGT's.
