i have not researched to see if there is an aftermarket one, but i would think you could use the original one and relocate somewhere under the truck, with longer hoses.
you mean like this ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

That's what I did. Still running a small F2A unit up front, along with a Auxilliary fan assisted, bar & plate (F2A) cooler under the bed. All plumbed as the factory would with 1/2" lines everywhere. Snuck in a remote/spin-on filter when no one was looking.

Hey BC, which bar and plate cooler are you running?

I am probably going to have the F2F remotely installed as well. I think that's the best bang for the buck right now.

Had to tow my car today to get repairs done to it at a body shop. I saw 210-250* in pan temps towing today. I am wondering if the heat from the exhaust is giving me a false reading as the truck towed excellent. The PCM did not kick it out of OD. I did try running it out of OD, but that seemed to make the temps increase worse than having it in OD.

I will probably have the ATF replaced when I have the F2F reinstalled now.

I don't know. I wish I had one of those laser beam temp guns with me yesterday and I would have measured the pan myself.

I overfilled it, so I am going to drain some out. The fluid on the dipstick seems fine though.

Here is a pic of some of the fluid. It is dark in large quantities, red if you pour it. Smells the same as it always does. It has 16,000 miles on it.

I am going to have the F2F put back in and new fluid done too.

Why not parallel a second flex-a-lite 4190 cooler? 1 fan just put it in front of the other. Just my two cents, Mike.

I am just going to have the L2L cooler put back in, in a remote location. I am also having the trans flushed and the ATF replaced.

Maybe later I will get a larger air cooler with a fan.

You should be OK with that, my converter is crap and as long as i'm not in O/D i can tow 18k without a problem of hot temps.

Yeah but you have the F2F cooler still doing it's thing. Mine is sitting in the back of my truck right now. The fluid to fluid cooling is the best.

I am having trouble finding anyone to reinstall it, so for the time being, I am going with a Derale fan equipped cooler (15960)

Derale: Fin and plate, 25 row, 1/2" inlet/outlet, 10 x 14 x 3, 500 CFM fan
Flex-a-lite: Tube and Fin, 6 row, 3/8" inlet/outlet, 7.5 x 12 x 3, 300 CFM fan

Hopefully that helps for now.

I just installed 2 derale 15960s in my 1990 .I took out the f2f because it was over heating the engine radiator on long pulls. so far every thing seems in check temp wise . I will see this summer when the temp hit 100+ and I need to move the skytrak 6036 of JLG gcw 30,000 + its a lot of work for the old 727 and 3.07 combo what I need is a 47rh with lock up in all 4
