i made it....

WEll, i made it... my trip took me from gainesville florida, as far as Junction, Texas and back. I averaged just at 20 mpg at 70 mph. Not bad for a brick without lock up TC. It will do 86 mph on the floor( not sure how that compares) Overall i enjoyed the trip though the truck isnt designed to even go 70 mph in my openion as the wind noise is quite noticeable and the doors kind of get sucked out and you can see light through the upper doorseals at speed. All in all i had a good trip though my mysterious noise underneath is a lot louder.

wayne

I am debating on getting a 94 or 95 model with a 5 speed. What was the last year of the 12 valve??

I have put right at 6000 miles on the truck since april 27.

98/early was the last 12v but you no us first gen!!!!! to much time and love to give'm up!

as fare as the noise, it just time for some love'n.
mine was quiter at 70-90 then it was at 65
you could probly fix the air noise with a couple door hinge kits!

Also to stop some wind noise, take a bit of clear silicone or the likes and seal around those little vent windows. Seal them shut....I dont imagine you swing them open anyway....

Ya my wing window will make noise afere it has been opened but if you push on the window it will get better or in my case stop!
a paper match stick or thin pec of cardboard will help also, i have allso loosed the screw on the wing window and repositioned it to seal better!

if its the door, then open it up and lift on the bottom of the door, there will brobably be a lot of play....even a littler is bad. yes you can adj the hing but there isn't much there and then when you replace the pin in the door you will be replaceing the hole lower hing causes the pin will have war compleatly thru the bushing and into the door hing!
