I’m an idiot

I thought that I had put everything on right, but it leaked like crazy. I wasn’t able to take a picture and am now suffering. My question is does the threads of the water device ( the black round thing) that has what looks like a screwdriver groove go up or down. When I was removing the old can, the entire thing came out together. Thanks in advance… Mark

You may want to put some lube on the black round thing first. Did you put the thingamajig back into the combobulator yet?

The water in fuel drain, drains when pushed up and should seal when it is down.
I install my "black round thing" in the filter before screwing it on to the motor.

Well I got everything on the rig and nothing is leaking there, but the black draining tube is leaking when it is in the down position. My question is are these available? If not do you Oliver happen to have one for sale. I am open to any suggestions that any one has. And I’m in a bad mood, so I’m in a banning mood 😇. You’re loving administrater (me)

Have you unscrewed the water drain again to check that the o-ring is in the correct position and there's no debris?

I had trouble with those drain devices leaking and abandoned them. I now use a closed-bottom filter with its own drain, like a wix 33472 or Mann WK8422.

Black sensor on TOP?

Are you taking about the fuel heater that goes between the fuel filter and the housing?

If your remove the fuel plate heater, you need to get a shorter threaded nipple to screw the fuel filter onto. I have seen them for sale on Geno's Garage.

Should I just leave it? The device on top.

It makes for one more O-ring / gasket that could leak, but until it does, I would leave it.

You won't need the fuel heater in PHX, but you might if you have to anywhere else in the winter.

Yeah. Like Flagstaff.

I still have mine because I don't drive it much anymore and we get wet a lot here in the winter. I haven't had any trouble but I don't know if it works or not. The bit o-ring started leaking and had to be replaced a few years ago. Luckily there was a Cummins dealer nearby.

Air or fuel leak waiting to happen. I think they can leak fuel where the wires go in.
