Cool hub ?'s

hi
spring break starts friday
i have a list of things to do - friday dad and i are going to get the bed in PA, can't wait to take the utility body off, but my list consists of
1) kdp
2) change all fluids and filters
3) repack front and rear hubs

so my questions start

i know to over fill the rag with approx. 4-5 quarts royal purple 5-30 synthetic

but what oil and weight do i run in the differentials? in the transfer case? any oil you prefer in the motor & weight?

so i saw in the sticky how to repack my hubs, where can i get the seals? - and my manual locking hub covers are beat up so i think i might as well replace them... so i found some but am not sure what ones will fit the 30 or 35 spline? here's a link

http://store.4wheelingplus.com/products.asp?cat=161

and while i'm doing the kdp should i replace the radiator hoses and clamps also should i replace my water pump?

anything else im missing?

i know this is much to ask
but thanks for all the help
Justin

if you don't tow with the truck then standard gear oil (80w-90) is fine. if towing then go with synthetic. that goes for the rears and transfer case. Engine oil is all preference and don't want to get into that. I got my axle seals at napa.

You don't need to touch the cooling system to do the KDP, so unless the hoses look bad there's no reason to mess with them.

In the front diff and transfer case run 80W-90. Out back it depends on the use of the truck. A tow rig needs heavier lube like an 85W-140 and synthetic is a great idea since it can handle the heat better. If it's just a daily driver/play toy, 80W-90 is a better choice.

You don't need to repack the rear hubs, they are lubed by the gear oil from the diff. If you have to go in there for some other reason (like to look at the brakes), smear a little grease on the bearings before you put it back together but don't pack them.

For engine oil use a major name brand of 15W-40. Mobil Delvac, Chevron Delo, Valvoline Premium Blue, and Shell Rotella T are all good brands to choose.

all depends what they are like in the inside. just because they are beat up on the outside they may be just fine on the inside. take one side apart and take a look, only takes a few mins (well maybe not the first time). Do they function?
