How much weight will the bed handle?

I have a D250 and I am expecting a delivery of palleted goods that weigh around 1600lbs. The only way I can accept delivery is to have the driver drop it on the street where I will have to break down and carry each item individually, OR I can have them roll the pallet directly into the bed of the truck.

I will not be driving anywhere with the load, just about 75 feet where it will stay parked until I am able to unload it.

Is 1600lb pushing the limit too far?

Thanks

1600 lbs is not a problem.

i don't think 1600 would be too much for a d250. i could legally hall that in the bed of my 81 d150.

assuming the rear suspension is the same as my old 91.5 w250 with the 7 leaf pack, ive literally put 3 times that amount of weight in the bed. you should be fine

That's just about the weight of a concrete bed liner.

Thanks guys - been a while since I dumped that much weight on Ol' Grumpy. Just making sure.

(Plus I am lazy as hell and do not want to hand-haul that load!)

You might be confusing wisdom with laziness.

I usually get a ton on when I haul scrap. Not sure it won't bow under the wheels of a hand truck, but it will hold the pallet just fine.

3 strips of 3/4" plywood fix that problem. Not sure 1600lbs would be enough to dent the bed ribs in though

I recently loaded two tons of topsoil in my truck and my son then drove it 120 miles at freeway speeds. I put 85psi in the rear tires and enough air in the rear Keldermans to make it look legal; no problem whatsoever. I do have good plastic bed liner.

Well I had the local Sutherland load a full unopened Pallet of quickcrete on the bed of my w250 an it squatted the Edit out of it. I thought it was going break my springs, now it doesn't help that they are the factory springs and the overloads were gone. Gonna replace all of them soon.
