How much louder will the pickup sound after pulling the stock muffler?

Oh I see! Ok, makes more sence to me if there isnt an overdrive and driving at higher revs.

I just got home from doing mine and it sounds great. You cannot tell until you step on it. I kept all the stock exhaust and just put a piece where the muffler was. This was my first mod also I guess there will be no stopping now.

I wonder why you have an annoying drone? Is the pipe hitting part of the frame somewhere?
Mmmmm ...the drone was with the straight pipe. The Stans w/ muffler is just right. The RPM deal figures in a bit too. If I do 60 it is as quite as can be.

I really enjoy the loud Cummins "clattering" exhaust tone. Some folks hate the obnoxious sound a diesel makes, but I love it. Right now I cannot hear the turbo at all.......even when putting my foot into it. My turbo is the H1C and has no silencer ring from what I found. By straight piping my stock exhaust, will I then hear the turbo?

Oh yeah. I too had no audible indication there was turbo under the hood until I ditched the stock exhaust.

I run a 4" in n out 26" straight thru donaldson big rig muffler. It's got all the rawr and none of the rasp with or without the foot. The new HX35 24Ver 98.5 turbo is very loud out of the exh and also from the mwe 54 compressor!

Mines straight-piped and the only time I really hear a whine from the turbo is when I back off the throttle, then I can hear it "whine" down.
