how loud is the fan supposed to be?

This might be a stupid question. It sounds like an airplane when my fan clutch kicks in, not sure if that is normal or not. For whatever reason ive only noticed it since last summer's camper and wood hauling season. Now, im trying to go through and p.m stuff before i load the camper and hit roads. And where does a feller find a new fan hub unit? i hate the dealers.

When it's locked then yes it's loud.
I could only find the hub and bearing at the dealership. Possible some one parting out their engine, but I didn't want to wait around.

Mine roars when it comes on. First time it happened it scared the Dickens out of me.

Now I expect it when I'm driving fast with the a/c on.

Mine got loud before and I left it alone thinking it might have been my imagination. Then the bearing cracked the housing after a few months, and the fan french kissed my radiator. Might want to make sure you don't need a bearing.
