How I put 7 qts in my Getrag 360

I just finished putting on a set of transmission cooler on the truck. I got them off Ebay from seller engines_transmissions_differentials for about $120 including shipping. They're pretty nice units, but I had to do a little massaging with a die grinder and an aluminum burr to get them to clear the bell housing bolt and the step behind the PTO cover on each side.

Here's what they look like ;

I just hope I still have enough clearance for the front driveshaft.

Beau was absolutely no help this time. He's wiped out from chasing squirrels...

Did you have to machine a slot on one of the sides so the bolts for the transmission (connect to the back of the bell housing) could slide in? Mine over lapped the top of the PTO cover plates. Mine is a little bit different, it has inch and a half fins for better cooling but only holds an extra one quart verses 2 due to the inside being slotted. Looks Sweet!

As the arrived, they were already machined to clear the bellhousing bolt, just not far enough. I had to cut another 1/4" off to get them to sit tight against the tranny. Took about 20 minutes with a die grinder to do both, plus clearance the other side to clear the tranny case behind the PTO cover.

Thats Nice that it was already machined, partly. Mine said that it was made for a G360 but I had to machine mine. I will post some pics of mine and show the difference.

those are very nice, I may need to get some. I bet they help out on the hard worked tranny's. Not that anyone with a cummins ever pulls more than 20k and needs the extra cooling. lol

I've got a set on mine with amsoil syncromax. Pulling on the highway in 5th at about 65mph grossing 16k its never gotten over 200deg. I don't really know what would be too hot, but seems like 200 isn't too bad.

Ebay - seller id engines_transmissions_differentials

Do a search on "manual transmission cooler". That's how I found them.

I've sent some feedback to the seller about the fitment issues I had and they've passed them on to the production people.

Those are the ones that I bought from geno's and I had to machine them to get them fit. Right now I am talking to Brandon at geno's to get Trans Cool to change their molds to clear the bell housing bolts; I thought that it was a direct bolt in but it is not. Looks to be a great product (once that is fixed)!
