how hot is too hot

Unhappy how hot is too hot

i was pulling my trailer the other day i had about 17000lbs groos weight and temp gage went up to 3/4 i hauled 20000lbs before and temp were a bit lower than that
that was wen i had 245-75s on not 36s and had no pump mod back then should i be worried or is this normal

My '93 FSM says 3/4 on the gauge is OK when you are working the truck.

Not too familiar with the first gens but I had a similar issue with my 2nd gen. The oil vapor from the puke bottle was getting blown around by the fan and was getting sucked through the radiator. Eventually a large section of the radiator was clogged with dirt sticking to the oil. Had to remove the rad and clean/degrease it. Made a big difference in how often the clutch fan kicked in. I also relocated the bottle to the frame near the transmission. Hope this helps.

good to know because mine was at 3/4 every big hill and back down to 1/4 on teh down side. clutch fan cam on couple of times.
