How do you keep front band screw from leaking on A518?

My front band adjustment screw is constantly seeping fluid. I don't see how it ever sealed, with the locknut just tightening against the rough cast housing. It seems like it was never meant to have to seal against fluid leaking, but I don't think I have the transmission over filled. It shows fine on the stick. Anybody know about this?

Take the nut off (don't let the screw turn!)then count out 2 turn on the adj.screw add licquid tefflon to the threads and screw it back the 2 turns that you turned it out!

If you back the screw off two fare the lever will fall off into the pan.....and there no fun to get back in!!

If that don't fix it you may have a pluged vent and it hiding behind the torkconvertor on the pump!......Actualy if the vent was pluged the tranny dip stick would all way be pushed out about about an inch! It would leak fluid out of it allso JUST MY .02 WORTH

I`ve run into it a couple of times, like the other folks said, back it out a bit, get it CLEAN and grease free, put some sealer on the threads and set up the band adjustment as you would normally do.I like Mopar Black RTV. it`s specifically made for use with ATF.
