how do i tell what size front axle i have?

i'm sure this is a simple question, but i just don't know any better when it comes to these trucks.

i'm doing a brake job on the front of my truck this week. it is a 1991 d250 2wd. when i went to O'Rielly to get a quote, they asked me if it had the 3300lbs axle or 4000lbs axle. how do i tell which is which? obviously just taking the rotor in to match it up would be an easy deal, but they have to order it and i don't want to waste too much time. also the 3300lbs ones are like twice the price, and it sure would be nice to find out that my truck did infact have the 4000lbs axle.

3300 lbs axles are the gas motors and 4000lbs is diesel. so you do have a 4000 lbs axle.

Even if those of use with "D" trucks don't technically have front axles?

The GVWR sticker on the driver door will tell you for sure.

excellent. i thought it was wierd that my "D" series truck had a front "axle" rating. thanks guys! i've been needing brakes for a little while, and a couple of weeks ago, i had to slam on brakes with the trailer behind me...i think it started the delamination process and now i've got grinding brakes. i'll be taking care of this tomorrow.

is there anything i need to know about this brake job that is different than say an 80's gm product? any special retainers i'll need a special removal tool for? thanks guys!
