I need to figure out a way to get the hood open, since the hood latch cable is broken. can i bend a piece of wire? its a 1991 intercooled cummins, has no front bumper on it. Any help would be appreciated.

How deep is it broken, If it just broke at the handle you may be able to strip the cable housing off and pull it with a pair of pliers? I just went out and looked and the latch is protected on the front, back and sides, so it'll be rough for the peice of bent wire idea. The cable goes into the firewall right above the inner fenderwell, worst case you may be able to get to it and start stripin it back until you can reach the peice of cable is out to pull on it with the pliers.
good luck
Justin

Sorry I cannot help much on getting the hood unlatched but after you get open you should install my Emergency Hood Release.

I have an 89. had similar situation. I wound up taking off entire front plastics. I exposed the two bolts that hold the latch down. I drilled those out. Was not fun. Time consuming and super frustrating.

Maybe you could take off the tire and pull out the fenderwell on the driver side. Once it is out you might have enough room to slip inside there or hook a wire on the latch to unlock it. Just a thought.
