Just curious. Who has the highest mileage on an unrebuilt CTD?

I have 336k all orginal. But I know there are ones running around with 2x times that or better

There just was a fella who was asking about fan CFM. He said he had 900k + before he tore it down.

 

I think TDR had/has an article about one guy who is over a million with no teardown.

 

Yep, there are plenty of over the road trucks with well over 1million on an original, non rebuilt Cummins. Pretty darn amazing.

 

my uncle's went 500k on the shortblock, 650k on the head. That's the longest running one I've personally known the history on

 

back in 1990 i was working for a family owned auto parts distributor. they were all dodge freaks like me and had decided to buy a dodge d350 ctd chassis and had a 15' box put on the back. this truck had to haul over 3k pounds of equipment daily over highway 17 from campbell ca to santa cruz ca. this truck hauled! when i last talked to them they had just over 970k miles on the same unrebuilt motor! wow! that is one good motor!

 

970k? You win so far!

 

980K plus about 8500 hours idleing at night to use the heat or A/C....So much for the cylinder washdown theory....

And those were hard miles primarily pulling loads up to 28,000 lbs.
