heavy duty front spring replacement

This is my first post, I have been looking at this site for some time but didn't have a truck yet. Well, I finally talked my old man out of his 90. She desperatly need new springs all the way around but the fronts are practically on the bumpstops so they are first. The truck is going to be my work truck, towing a bobcat 773, plus a couple attachments on the bed. I haul a lot of firewood in the fall and winter also. I see some of you guys run the skyjacker 2" , but I've been under the impression they are meant for gassers. OEM units from the local Chrysler dealership are nearly $300 a piece. Eaton spring advertises a 6 leaf, 1900lb set for about $330. Anyone run these? Any other companies sell heavy duty springs for less than $600 bucks? What is the load rating for OEM units? I definatly don't want to go lighter. In 2 years Im moving from Redding CA back to Fairbanks, Ak. I will be towing a car hauler trailer, car inside, an entire house packed in also and an overhead camper. Light duty will not do. Thanks guys.

Skyjacker and Superlift make spring replacements but you need to specify that they are for a diesel. Ive had both as far as lifts go and the superlift springs I had were heavier than the skyjackers. However, that was on a six in lift kit.

You might want to try Benz Spring in Portland, Or. I got a set for the front of my 92 W250 for around $400.

What were the original leaves rated for? Does anyone know? 1900 lbs doesn't sound like that much when the combined truck & gooseneck weigh close to 20,000.

5k combined, correct? It seems that a few places only sell a 6 leaf, 1900lbs. Who sells a 2,500lb rating for a reasonable price? any one have expierence with the J.C Whitney springs? awful cheap, sounds enticing but i don't need poor quality.

I was about to recommend air bags and then I red your sig. I would think you'd be able to tailor the psi of the bags to your present load. I've had over 3000 pounds in the bed with my tired old springs and the ol' gal sat just level (probably due to the sagging front springs) For the front, it seems the skyjackers are pretty consistent as far as not sagging over the years due to engine weight, etc.

I have the same rear air ride setup as Free89w350, just with a double convolute bag. I expected what you said, but when the system is aired up all the way, the driver side is still 1.5 inches lower at the rear than the passenger side. Ill check out the skyjackers, with the 2 inch springs do i need to do anything to the front end? drag link maybe?
