My 01 asked for 66 lbs but when i had the head gasket changed at my cummins service center they said there was an update and that it had been changed to 77 lbs.

Short bolts: 66 ftlb
Long bolts: 89 ftlb
Torque all bolts an additional 90 degrees.

So Dave, do you know what the "FINAL TORQUE" is AFTER the 90 deg turn....and seeing as how were torquing the long bolts to 89 and the short ones to 66...and then turning BOTH and extra 90 deg.. it seems as though the long bolts are being torqued to a higher foot lb than the short bolts...is that correct?? Does anyone know what the FOOT lb is after the 90 deg turn..and are they ALL the same foot lb or are the the long bolts torqued to a higher foot lb...I'm

Neither of my books say anything about what the final torque will be, just that you need to torque 'em then go another 1/4 turn.

The long bolts will end up being torqued to a higher value. This is because a longer bolt (all else being equal) is more elastic, so to get the same clamping load you must apply more torque.
