Have an electrical mystery for those who love them.
Ok, so I drive a 1992 Dodge W250 diesel. New alternator, new battery. But the battery won't charge from the engine. I take it and have it tested/charged and everything checks out fine. Put it back in and it cranks right up. Lasts for about a day. I even checked into replacing my crank sensor, whick no one seems to carry. What they do carry is a voltage regulator but I can't locate it on my truck. So what the heck is wrong with my truck? I admit I am a noveice but enthusiastic about learning this stuff so please help me out. Photos always help. Thanks in advance.

Your guess on the Crank sensor is the leading cause of this problem. If Dodge can't get one, try going to any heavy truck repair facility that services Cummins and they should be able to get one for you.

First thing I think is wrong is the e3 plugs those don't do well on turbocharged engines(boost puts the spark out!) Switch to something better this not a place to cheap out when going for all out power.
Are the battery cables in good shape?

I also have a 2002 Dodge Ram Quad cab. Black, with 22" black and silver rims. I have a K&N factory air filter, E3 spark plugs, a flowmaster 40 series muffler and I only use Royal Purple oil.
X2 on the crank sensor. Try cleaning / adjust first. Check / clean all grounds. Check big green fuse link wire on dr side fender well, and the connectors from the alt to the battery (big terminal on back of alt).

I had the exact same problem
But then I read the sticky on it, and Wannadiesel's post about the procedures for figuring it out fixed it within minutes.
BTW....
It wasn't the crank sensor.... which is only available from the dealer.

sounds like the crank sensor to me. Check the wires, adjust the gap and if necessary replace. Contact cummins, there was a part# on this site. $60.00 from cummins $140.00 from the dealer. The Cummins # and Dodge # are different so find the cummins #
