Hard Starting

A friend of mine has a 1993 W250 with an Auto. About 140,000 miles. Looks like an original very clean truck. He is having troubles (a lot) in regards to the fuel system. He says it is like the fuel is draining back into the tank and causing the injectors to be dry. I think he has been working on this for some time now. He has checked the tank and the sending unit, replaced the fuel line going to the pump, took the pump out and it seems to work when in a bucket. Not sure if he has a pin hole leak in the fuel lines but we would think it would effect only that injector. he did mention that if he leaves the truck over night with the frontend lower then the backend, it will start after some cranking. If parked normally, it doesn't want to start.

Any other ideas to look into?

If it's the orginal lift pump I'd replace it approx. $75 with Cummins O.E. From what I understand the Inj. will pull the fuel on it's on but it's a strain it. Good luck

Guys who solved this problem have been saying it was the rubber return line from the back of the motor.
