Sometimes us insane members like to spend 100 hrs to build stuff that would cost $50 to buy.

I do it all the time.

Nice job on the tank, BTW

For one, his tank has an extra 16 gallons of capacity. On the downside, steel rusts...

How are you planning on running the filler neck?

I have done some research on rust and protecting the tank.. and I am going to be sealing the inside of the tank and I will also paint the outside with a High heat temp paint.. since this tank can get up to 170 degrees..

the fill neck will be at a 45 degree angle on the top back corner. hope to have that done tomorrow or next day..I will keep this updated with pics of filler tube location etc.. for the most part you will not know I am running grease if you drive by me.. no tank sticking up in bed of truck and no extra filler tube on side of bed

Hmmm, you don't think the overwhelming smell of french fries and fried onion rings with no restaurants within 20 miles will give it away?

I converted my 93 1ton to svo and I love it. Runs smoother and quieter on the stuff. I used a Hotfox in tank heater, a Vormax heated fuel filter/water separator, an additional electric fuel pump and a Vegtherm Mega in line electric heater. I would seriously consider the Hotfox for your tank since your coolant setup requires you to heat the whole tank up before switching over to veggie, the Hotfox will let you do it sooner. My tank is a steel 60 gallon, I don't think rust is an issue at all and I wouldn't coat the inside of yours (I seen alot of the tank coatings peel and clog filters) since it is important to dewater the SVO anyways. It is oil and the last time I checked oil is a good rust preventer (it's what they coat raw steel with).

Next we put it under the truck to test fit it..

from a distance with less light you can see that most people will never even notice it

I am now waiting on my fuel sending unit to arrive.. once I get that I can install that and then put tank back up in truck..
we also made the mounts already so now it is just a wait on parts..

this tank will hold right at 50gallons
