Gov Spring Help

Howdy all,

Anybody around the Chicagoland area who's done a governor spring (or ten) and want to help a rookie?

I almost had the cahones to do it myself until I saw fearthedeer's installation go all to heck.

I think I want to grind the foot at the same time too...

So...is there anybody around this area? Any get-togethers around me where somebody with some previous knowledge is gonna' go?

Thanks in advance,

Vinny

You mean Nascar Mark's old motor doesn't already have this mod?

Hey BG,

No, it doesn't...ain't that a kick in the pants?

It came with the truck in a box...that the PO had purchased himself. I guess he had that nervous factor goin' on too...

He had to buy the POD's for it too...

Hey Wanna,

Thanks a bunch...I'm sure it'll still be sittin in the box by then anyway...

I'll make sure I have the garage clean and all the tools organized by then...

Hey...it could happen.

We gotta' hook-up and talk diesel smoke anyway if your gonna' be this close...I'll have my buddy with my old truck stop by and he can hang-out too.

Thanks again,

Vinny

I would be interested in watching/helping as well. I have not done a GSK, but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.

Well then,

Your invited!

What the heck, the more the merrier. We'll call it the NE IL Rodeo and Pump Tweek.

I live right off I-80,so it mucho-easy to find...

The garage is big (if not real tall),and it's heated too,so no frostbite (gets kinda' chilly around here by turkeyday...sometimes).

I'll have beverages in the mini-fridge for everybody, and some kind of grub...probably turkey salad with turkey sam-iches and turkey sundae's...MMMmmmm,now that there's good eatin'!

My neighbors are generally good sports...I'm sure they won't mind a little diesel smoke and loud exhaust.

Sounds good to me! I'll bring the special tools needed. Unfortunately I will be truckless. I bum a ride with my brother and his family in their minivan. Oh well, beats driving 13 hours by myself and paying through the nose on for diesel and tolls.

Which day is good for you guys, or is it too early to tell? I will be there Sunday through Friday, Sunday and Thursday are out for obvious reasons.

Any of those days will be good for me Wanna...we'll see what the big 'G" says.

Will you need a ride? Be glad to come and get ya' in the truck...heck I'll even take ya' back (at a slightly faster pace I'm thinkin')...

At least that way you can get a diesel smoke fix while your away from home.

I can probably borrow a car or talk my brother or my useful brother-in-law into bringing me. I'd like to get my brother-in-law to come - one ride and I think he'll be hooked.

Let's see what day(s) are good for Greg.

Thumbs up

Howdy All,

Just wondering who (if anybody) is going to be able to make it for the Thanksgiving week Bomb-a-thon at my house.

We haven't settled on a day yet...so far the 20th, early on the 22nd, and Turkey day are out of the running...so if your thinkin' of coming let me know what works for ya'...

We'll have space in the garage once my govornor spring is done if you have Bombs to drop on your truck...and if you just want to hang-out, drink coffee, and talk Diesel stuff your MORE than welcome to come...

Heck,I won't even discriminate if you don't have a 1st Gen.

If you think you might want to come, let me know, so I can tell you what day we decide on and give you directions to Casa de Looney.

Vinny

I'll pass on the get together for now. But if you wanted to bring it down to Terre Haute one of these weekends, I could help you install the spring. I think at the time you posted this I hadn't done a gov spring install. Now I've been in and out of mine a few times LOL.
